Where’s Your Focus?
12 Jul
Today’s brief post (I’m on a pseudo vacation this week) was inspired by two things:
1. Reading The New Pursuit‘s Monday morning mediation on gratitude
2. Talking to an amazing friend about to have a baby
Both of these triggers had me thinking about focus and where we put it.
You’ve all heard the phrase “you get what you focus on” right?
But how many of you consciously choose your thoughts? Do you ask questions that empower or questions that send you down a spiral of negative thinking?
Open-ended questions engage the solution focused part of your brain and you’ll naturally shift your focus back to what you want and a positive perspective. If you’re doubtful, ask yourself some close-ended, yes/no questions and notice how you feel.
If you’re not feeling good about whatever’s going on in your life, it’s time to shift your focus and ask a new question.
It’s not rocket science and you can start right now.
What question helps you return to a positive state?
