The Words Don’t Fit

I'm coming to this party late.  But the first thing I thought of when I saw your photo, Sandi, was "All talk and no action."  I'm really tired of people wanting to get credit for thinking about something or talking about something.  Nope, not even gonna give 'em partial credit because, "Talk is cheap."  Because, "Actions speak louder than words."  Hmm.  With all these quotes we've all heard a million times, I'm coming to the conclusion I'm not the only one who feels this way about all talk and no action.  

Reminds me of the way most of us live, most of the time. Our words don't match the picture we have for our future. We imagine what we want, but speak constantly of what is or what we are afraid will be.

When I see this I automatically think of labels and how we use them to describe ourselves and others, but it doesn't quite define us perfectly. There's still that gray area, and that area within us that we can't quite place a label on. :] 

At a birthday dinner. The birthday girl (33) invited us to a really cool little soirée in this intimate dining room. She'd called in the reservation and let them know she was vegetarian. When they brought in her plate she looked at it for a couple of beats. Our waiter asked if it was satisfactory and, the weirdest thing happened. Her voice was animated as she said, "Looks great, I'll dig right in." But her eyes and face were dead like cardboard. The waiter was standing behind her so he didn't see, but I was right across from her and witnessed the whole thing. It freaked me the F out.  She ended up just wanting dessert anyway... Sandi - it was wild. The non look on her face.
